ph:  (510) 708-9679          or
(Advanced Ionospheric Monitor using a High sensitiviy Imager) is a next-generation space-based Far Ultraviolet sensor for monitoing the ionosphere.  The study phase and development on this project started in early 2007.
                     ( Extreme Ultraviolet Explorer )

is a NASA explorer class satellite mission
lauched on June 7, 1992 and operated until
January 31, 2001.  I was the project engineer
and mechanical engineering manager overseeing
about 20 people in the design, development,
fabrication, testing and launch support.
                           ( Imager for Magnetopause-to-Aurora Global Exploration )

is a spacecraft launched from Vandenberg AFB on
March 25, 2000.  IMAGE is the first satellite mission
dedicated to imaging the Earth's magnetosphere, the
region of space controlled by the Earth's magnetic
field and containing extremely tenuous plasmas of
both solar and terrestrial origin.  I provided concept
designs on the Far Ultraviolet (FUV) insrument of the
satellite in collaboration with a design team in Belgium.

               ( Solar Heliospheric Observatory

is a project of international collaboration
between ESA and NASA to study the Sun
from its deep core to the outer corona and
the solar wind.  SOHO was launched on December 2, 1995.  I provided project
engineering support for the development of detectors on two (SUMER and UVCS) of
the 12 instruments on this ambitious
ESA (European Space Agency) program.
Far Ultraviolet Spectrographic Explorer )

is a NASA-supported astrophysics mission that was launched on June 24, 1999 to explore the Universe using high-resoultion spectrocpy in the Far-Ultaviolet region.   I provided mechanical and systems engineering support in collaboration with various team members at Johns Hopkins University as the program evolved .
The NeckSpring is an apparatus for exercising the neck and strengthening neck muscles
1200 Deg C Vacuum Heater System is a high efficiency apparatus for research in phase diagam studies of chemical elements, the annealing of electronic circuit components and othe science and research applications.
Torque Online Measuring System is a proposed apparatus to measure the torque on a rotating shaft (such as on electrical power turbines) wih high resolution capable of sensing the the change in load of an air-conditioner on a 500 megawatt power plant.

Rapid Prototyping with 3D printing (Stereolithographic) technology was used to develop the LIP SHAPER for CandyLipz, LLC,
a device to enhance lips without surgery or medication for natural looking lips.  Click here to see video of the product.
